Preheat the waffle iron.

Make a flax egg by combining the ground flax seeds and water. Combine and set aside to thicken, this will only take a few minutes.

Make the waffle batter by placing the oats in a blender and blending them until they become a fine powder. Pour the flax “egg” into the blender as well as the milk, vanilla extract, maple syrup, and salt. Pulse until smooth. Note that the batter is slightly thicker than regular Waffle batter.

Pour the batter into the greased waffle iron and cook for four minutes. Repeat with the remainder of the batter. Top with desired toppings.
